With a wink to childhood and a mission to reconnect children and families with nature, the Let's Go Chipper!^TM series excites all back into the great outdoors. The nature inspired stories are eco-educational and correlated to national academic standards in arts and literature, science, and social skills.

Nature Deficit Disorder, Juvenile Diabetes, ADHD and other disorders that affect children both physically and mentally have an association to a sedentary life spent in front of computers and TV. Chipper encourages children to explore and play which helps promote physical activity and conscientiousness. Respect, good character and environmental stewardship are the underlying message in each story delivered through music, mishap, and humor.

Our Team

About the Creator Stephanie Rach-Wilson grew up in a 4-H household with a "get out and play" philosophy. Commitment to community was instilled at a young age and working with children has always been her focus. 4-H teaches children to pledge their head, heart, hands, and health to enrich themselves, family and community. The experience in her local 4-H club impressed upon Stephanie the importance of living an organic "green" life by respecting the environment around you, both in nature and the people you come in contact with. Always the one with a story to tell, Stephanie got her writing chops while working for the community paper her mother co-founded. This led to a career producing broadcast segments for a major network; writing and developing corporate communication pieces for Fortune 500 companies; to creating the brand and marketing strategies for award winning and financially successful consumer product companies. Creating Chipper is just an extension of herself, and the stories unfold along with her life raising two children on the trails in Marin, California.

A Great Partner

Chipper and his friends are brought to life by a wonderful team of writers, illustrators and animators but the award winning live footage and guidance of Bay Area naturalist, Doug McConnell, delivers the magical settings kids are eager to explore.

Doug's received many regional Emmys and other broadcast awards during his long career in television. He's also been recognized for his extensive public service and been named Honorary National Park Ranger, Honorary State Park Ranger, Volunteer of the Year by the San Francisco Bay Trail and Humanitarian of the Year by the Marin Humane Society. In addition, he's been given the prestigious Harold Gilliam Award for environmental reporting and storytelling in Northern California.

Beyond his television work, Doug has managed significant communications programs for the President's Commission on Coal, the Governor of Alaska, the University of Alaska, The Institute of Ecology, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and many other institutions.

From 1993-2009 Doug was the Host and Senior Editor of the legendary Bay Area Backroads series on KRON Television in San Francisco. Backroads was one of the longest-running and most successful regional television series in American broadcast history. During his Backroads years, Doug co-authored two best-selling travel publications for Chronicle Books.

Prior to joining Backroads, Doug produced, reported and hosted many other series and specials and news reports for KPIX Television in San Francisco, KING Television in Seattle, KAKM Public Television in Anchorage, PBS and CBS nationally, The Discovery Channel and Animal Planet nationally and internationally and numerous other broadcast and cable outlets.

Doug lives in Marin County, California with his wife, Kathy Taft. They have two sons and a gaggle of other animals.

Books are jacket-free and printed using FSC certified or consciously harvested paper from sustainable forests, and most efficient sizing to reduce paper waste. Our environmentally friendly approach to manufacturing helps reduce waste in the landfills and our products often times come packaged in reusable totes so everything is recyclable.
